Buying Checklist
Whether your
dream home is new construction or an existing home, you will want to know what to look for
as you begin your search. Use this checklist to serve as a helpful guide as
you start on the road to purchasing your home.
I will help you
through the process of buying a home while always representing your best interests.
Use the home buyer checklist below to stay on track:
Determine your wants and needs: style of home, size,
price, location.
Contact Kim Quanstrom, Realtor®,
to find the right home for you and your family.
Check out the neighborhoods, schools, traffic,
zoning, and work commutes. Visit the town or city hall to learn of any zoning changes,
liens, easements, or other restrictions.
Rely on my expertise and in-company resources to
help you find the information you need to make an informed buying decision.
I will prepare a property value study and ask the
seller if there are any other offers and his motivation for selling, deadlines, etc. This
will help you determine your offer price.
I will prepare the offer and negotiate based on your
criteria. You will want to hire an attorney to review your contracts before submission to
the seller.
When the offer is accepted, your attorney will order
home inspections and other inspections, as requested by you.
Take advantage of the inspection contingencies in
your offer to eliminate any surprises before you move in to your new home.
Your mortgage broker will schedule an appraisal for
your new home.
Final negotiations. Use the inspection report to
re-negotiate, if necessary.
Walk-through inspection prior to closing. Visit your
new home before you sit down at the closing table to make sure everything is as you expect
it to be.
You may find that you need to add some
steps, based on your special situation, to create a customized home buying checklist for
yourself. However, this should serve as a helpful guide as you start on the road to
purchasing your dream home.
